If
you have no bellydance experience, then a beginner class is
a good place to start. If you have some experience but aren't
sure which style, drop into the class of interest and try
it out.
FCBD/ATS
is an improvisational bellydance format that is similar to
a language with a set movements. Fusion can use the same moves,
however, it is customarily choreographed.
Wear
something comfortable, that allows for freedom of movement.
Coin or hip scarves, skirts, pantaloons or tights, and a choli
top can be worn, but are not required.
No
pre-registration is required. You can just show up to class.
No,
students who wish to cover their feet are encouraged to wear
ballet slippers or "toe thongs" which are small
shoes covering the balls of the feet. Dancing in socks is
not recommended on certain surfaces as the feet may slide.
Everyone
learns at a different pace. However, most individuals who
have consistent class attendance coupled with practice at
home will have a good understanding of what's going on within
a few months.
Level
1 is an 8 Week Session.
Customarily,
most individuals take the Level 1 class two times before moving
on to the next session. However, there is no limit and even
the most experienced dancers can benefit from reviewing the
basics.
There
are three defined levels of FCBD Style®. However, depending
upon where and with whom you train, there can be multiple
classes breaking down the style into varying classroom curriculum.
There are over 70 basic movements to the style along with
ways to embellish or combine movements to create a unique
performance each and every time.
No.
You are never required to perform as a student. Those opportunities

Tamarind
Studio offers a regular haflas for individuals to perform
at regardless of how long you've been dancing.
Hafla
is another name for party. This is usually a time to get together
and celebrate. Often haflas have dancing and offer performance
opportunities in a supportive setting. If you aren't ready
to perform, come to the hafla and have fun!
No,
there is no specific student troupes at this time. However,
those attending classes will have performance opportunities
available via audition for each upcoming event.
Tamarind
Troupe Transformations® is it's own unique format, improv-based
with it's own repetoire of tribal movements, group formations,
and prop work. Deeply rooted in FatChance BellyDance Style®,
it draws it's influences from FCBD Style®, Zoe Jakes DanceCraft®
format, Rachel Brice 8 Elements®, MOria Chappell's sacred
geometry, and other sources to create a distinct flavored
format
